Love in Vain adalah revisi ulang dari karya gubahan seorang 'Master Blues' Robert Johnson. Tembang ini awalnya populer pada 1937, dan cenderung terdengar lebih bernada 'Classical Blues'. Oleh dua pentolan The Rolling Stones - Mick Jagger dan Keith Richards, lagu ini direkomposisi kembali dengan kesan yang terasa lebih Country Blues. Keindahan lagu ini salah-satunya ada pada kekuatan lirik yang menggunakan kata atau frasa simbolik tertentu. Misalnya, station merepresentasikan 'masa perpisahan', red light merujuk pada 'kekalutan'.
